\u2022  Space is never neutral. In Lebanon, urban planning, housing, and public space are shaped by class power, sectarian governance, privatization, the state's complete bias to the interests of the powerful, and decades of displacement and war. Women, queer people, migrants, workers, and the poor are routinely pushed out of the city, from the center to the margins, or made unsafe within it.\u2022   Our feminist space-conception work reclaims the city as a site of struggle and imagination. We engage with streets, neighborhoods, and informal spaces as political terrains, asking: who gets to move freely, who is surveilled, who is allowed to exist within this space, and who is thus erased?\u2022   Through feminist mapping, walking tours, popular education, and collective research, we document overlooked histories and create tools for reclaiming space, not as property, but as a shared and contested commons.<\/p>\n\t\t\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n

Feminist Walking Tour of Beirut<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t

\u2022  This feminist walking tour is an invitation to move through Beirut while tracing the many ways people have organized across time. As we walk through different neighborhoods, we revisit sites where feminist, labor, queer, and community organizing took shape: sometimes visibly through unions, associations, and movements, and sometimes quietly through care, relationships, and everyday acts of resistance that never made it into official archives. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t

\u2022  The tour is grounded in a feminist understanding of space: one that sees the city not as neutral, but as shaped by power, exclusion, and struggle. Streets, schools, homes, workplaces, and cultural spaces emerge as contested terrains where gender, class, and political belonging were negotiated. By walking these routes together, the tour makes visible how organizing both responded to and reshaped the spaces people moved through. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t

Organizing is approached as a living, changing practice, shaped by shifting political conditions of colonialism, class struggle, patriarchy, war, displacement, and moments of uprising. Rather than romanticizing the past or judging the present, the walk invites participants to ask how organizing responded to its time, what adapted in order to survive, and what forms of collective life carried through. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t

\u2022  At its core, the tour treats memory as a collective and political practice. It offers space to remember together, to hold histories gently and without isolation, and to reconnect with the long lineages of struggle that continue to shape the city. Through walking, listening, and reflecting together, the tour opens space to think differently about organizing today, and to imagine how feminist ways of making and reclaiming space might still guide what comes next. <\/p>\n\t\t\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n
